Tahun 1974 Joe mulai mengajar gitar di Westbury selama 3 tahun berturut-turut, salah satu muridnya adalah Steve 1978 Joe pindah ke Berkley California mengejar karier sebagai instruktur gitar. Yang menghasilkan murid-murid yang sangat berbakat seperti kirk hammetmetallica, david bryson counting crows, Kevin Cadogan Third eye Blind, Larry Lalonde Primus, possessed, dan Alex Skolnick testament. Joe mengakui bahwa permainan gitarnya sangat dipengaruhi oleh Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, dan Jimmy 1984 Joe merilis EP yang berjudul Rubina-nama Rubina diambil dari nama istrinya. Setahun kemudian, Joe mendapat kontrak dari Relativity Record dan meluncurkan album 'Not of this Earth' yang merupakan album EP Rubina dan dilengkapi dengan beberapa lagu lainnya. Di album kedua adalah salah satu instrumentalis Rock Tersukses “ Surfing With Alien” 1987. Surfing with Alien, Ice9, Cruching Day, Midnight adalah lagu hits-hitsnya. Juga “Hill of The Skull” yang dipengaruhi genre musik celtic yang gelap. Selain itu lagu balada yang melodius dan menyayat emosi “Always with You Always with Me” dan “Echo”.Album ini meraih gold, dan di tahun 1989 Mick Jagger pun mengajaknya tur keliling dunia dan sempat melakukan konsernya di Jakarta. Bahkan sempat bergabung dengan Deep Purple untuk menggantikan posisi Ritchie Blackmore pada tur di Jepang. Tapi menolak menjadi gitaris tetap karena dia lebih memilih bersolo karier. Tahun 1989 Joe Satriani meluncurkan album Flying in a Blue Dream” yang juga laris manis. Salah satu lagunya “One Big Rush” menjadi soundtrack film 'Say Anything' yang disutradarai oleh Cameron Crow. Album ini juga menghasilkan lagu-lagu balada seperti “into the light”, the forgotten-parts one and two, i 1992 Joe me-launching album The Extremist dengan lagu-lagu hit “summer Song”, “cryin’”, ”The Extremist”, “Friends”. Summer song menjadi jingle iklan Sony Walkman. Album ini meraih nominasi Grammy Award. Disusul tahun 1993 Joe merilis album double CD Time Machine. Disusul tahun 1995 dengan album Joe satriani yang berbau blues kental. Dan tahun 1998 meluncurkan album Crystal planet. Dengan Hit “love thing”, A Train of Angles, Crystal Planet, Rapsberry Jam Deltra Satriani bereksperimen dengan menggunakan programming komputer pada album 'Engines of Creation' tahun 2000. Joe “Satch” Satriani Jika ditanya siapa Gitaris yang paling aku kagumi, dialah Joe Satriani yang memiliki nama legkap Joseph Satriani yang lahir 15 Juli 1956 di Westburry, New York, USA. Pertama aku denger lagu Joe Satriani dari teman, pada waktu itu temanku memainkan salah satu lagu JS sebutan Joe Satriani dengan Gitar Elektrik di studioku…indah banget aku dengerin. Aku di kasih tau ini lagu Joe Satriani cuman temenku lupa judul dan albumnya, batinku “ini lagu dimainin ama orang lain enak banget apa lagi dengerin langsung ama yang empunya. Dari situ aku mulai penasaran ama yang namanya Joe Satriani. Ketika aku lagi antar jalan-jalan pacarku Eva Primayuana yang sekarang jadi Istriku aku sempatkan mampir di toko kaset, mataku langsung mencari nama Joe Satriani di deretan kaset & menemukannya…ooo ini tho yang namanya Joe Satriani, orangnya botak plontos. Aku beli kaset JS tersebut yang cover kasetnya bergambar JS yang lagi pegang gitar dengan background putih “Crystal Planet” title albumnya yang ternyata baru saja album tersebut release tahun itu 1998. 15 track lagu langsung menyapaku dari lagu “Up In The Sky” sampai “ZZ Song”. Komposisi nada yang di sajikan JS yang keturunan Italia karena ayahnya berasal dari Bari & kakeknya dari Piacenza sempat membuat aku terbius, nada-nadanya terdengar aneh, unik, langka di telinga awam. Dengan teknik permainan gitar seperti Tapping, Alternate Picking, Sweep Picking dll yang sempurna JS sang Virtuoso ini tak jarang membuat music rock yang terkenal cadas, hingar bingar menjadi lembut bahkan membuat aku merinding. Dalam bermusik Joe Satriani terinspirasi oleh gitaris-gitaris seperti Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore dan Jeff Beck, walaupun dia terinspirasi oleh nama besar tersebut JS mampu mempunyai ciri kas tersendiri. JS pertama kali belajar gitar pada gitaris jazz Billy Bauer, untuk mendalami ilmu bergitar JS yang mulai memperdalam permainan gitar di umur 12 tahun ini masuk sekolah music Five Town College, dan tahun 1978 JS pindah ke Barkeley untuk menjadi guru gitar pada usia 15th, murid-muridnya yang telah menjadi gitaris dunia yaitu Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet Metallica dan Larry LaLonde Primus, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan, Alex Skolnick Bermula dari album “Crystal Planet” itulah aku sangat kesengsem oleh permainan Joe Satriani, satu persatu albumnya aku koleksi dan Akhirnya aku menemukan lagu JS yang pertama kali aku dengerin lewat temenku, ternyata judulnya “Day At The Beach” di album “Flying In The Blue Dream”. Sedap banget dengerinnya, dengan teknik Tapping ia berhasil menyajikan warna biru langit dan luasnya pantai di mataku. Tahun 1980 JS merencanakan membuat album, dan akhirnya lewat Steve Vai yang mana Steve Vai lebih dulu masuk studio recording dibawah label, JS direkomendasikan ke label rekaman. Tahun 1986 album “Not of This Earth” keluar disusul oleh album “Surfing With The Alien” pada tahun 1987 yang sukses secara komersil dengan lagu hitnya yang sangat keren “Always”. Dengan album inilah dunia musisi semakin memperhitungkan keberadaannya yang mana ia sempat direkrut oleh Mick Jagger sebagai gitaris untuk tur band legendaries Rolling Stone pada tahun 1988 dan tahun 1994 giliran Ritchie Blackmore merekomendasikan JS untuk mengisi kekosongan posisi gitaris di tubuh Deep Purple. Harmonisasi nada yang ada disetiap lagunya membuat album2 JS mendapat perhatian khusus. Jika dirata2 setiap album JS yg keluar selalu masuk dalam nominasi berbagai penghargaan untuk kategori music instrumental rock. Tapi JS belum memenangkan penghargaan tsb. Dimulai pada tahun 1996, JS yang album keseluruhan telah terjual mencapai angka 10 juta copy menggagas sebuah acara yang bertajuk G3 yaitu sebuah konser yang sarat bertaburan gitaris kelas dunia , dengan gitar signatur seriesnya “Ibanez JS Series” Joe Satriani tampil bersama dengan Steve Vai dan mengajak gitaris lainnya di G3 seperti Eric Johnson 1996, Adrian Leggs, Kenny Wayne Shepherd dan Robert Fripp 1997, Michael Schenker dan Uli John Roth dengan Brian May sebagai Guest Star untuk show di London dan Patrick Rondat di Perancis 1998 dan John Petrucci 2001 dan tidak kelewatan Yngwie Malmsteen. Pada tahun 2009 ia menggarap project band bersama mantan vokalis Van Halen, yaitu Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony bassis Van Halen, dan drummer Red Hot Chili Peppers Chad Smith, untuk membentuk suatu kolaborasi rock, Chickenfoot. Debut mereka ini mendapatkan disertifikasi emas oleh Asosiasi Industri Rekaman Amerika dengan lebih dari keping penjualan album.
